| Abstract | In the United States, ten percent of all traffic collisions involve a “hit and run” situation. Many of these incidents involve only damage to property but a significant number result in serious injury or death to innocent parties, particularly those collisions involving pedestrians. Despite this widespread crime, and in contrast to physical forensic science relating to motor vehicle collisions, a behavioral sciences literature examining or explaining the conduct of the perpetrators is undeveloped. In this short note, we begin to explore some possibilities for examiners to weigh using case vignettes. | |||||
